Weekend at the Adoption Events
Louise is totally uncomfortable when outside the store at the adoption events. Once inside she is little more relaxed but still weary of all the people and sounds. These pictures were taken on Saturday at Petco.
The next day we went to Petsmart and Louise was much more relaxed once we entered the store.
Also on the same day we went to another adoption event at a different Petsmart and Louise was even more relaxed. She even let another volunteer hold her while I took the picture. Driving to these different adoption events also helps Louise with her nervousness in the car.

Louise is Shy
Louise is a very shy dog. In addition to being shy, she is a country dog still getting used to the hustle and bustle of suburban life. The yard has a post rail fence and a walking path along the back. Groups of people and people with dogs are constantly walking by particularly during the evenings and weekends. Louise can detect these people way before us humans know anyone is around. She will run up to the fence and bark at the people with dogs but is afraid to approach the fence if it is just people going by. She will pace up on the deck. Desensitizing a shy dog to new sounds and smells is a slow process but well worth the effort.

Louise Meets Another Foster
Little Tinkerbell came to live with us for a week before finding her forever home. Louise treated her like she did her own pups with kid gloves. Tinkerbell is only 7 pounds which is smaller than Louise's puppies were when they were adopted. Needless to say Louise was very gentle with her when they played together.

Louise and Her Foster Sisters
Louise lives in a house with 4 other small dogs. She doesn't even notice that she is so much larger than the others. She plays with Cindy the tan and white dog in the middle every chance she gets. The two have become close buddies especially since all the puppies found homes of their own.
Louise also likes to play with balls and toys. Only problem is she usually ends up destroying them.

Day 1.....A Long Journey
Louise and her eight one week old pups traveled all day long to reach her foster home. Even though she didn't know any of the people she encountered and had to switch vehicles several times she still took good care of her babies.
She was afraid, hungry, and very thirsty but made sure her pups were taken care of before taking care of her own needs.
